Wow! The amazing Autumn and Winter 2013 catwalk collections showcased at both London and Milan Fashion weeks have left me breathless to say the least. So much so, I’ve all but forgotten the key looks for spring 2013! What were they again?
Here’s my top ten reminders of Spring Summer 2013 Fashion Trends for Women.
Trend 01 – Monochrome
Clothes should be two things this season; black and white. This is probably one of the easiest looks to create as I reckon you’ll already have both colours in your wardrobe. Why not have a look and see what you can re-invent? The Louis Vuitton checkerboard looks really stand out, as you can see from the celebs already sporting this trend.

Trend 02– Bomber Jackets
Making a comeback this year, a sporty bomber jacket will update everything in a flash. Set to be the key jacket shape of the season, Tom Ford showcased some real eye-catching bomber jackets at London Fashion Week. Emeli Sande is already rocking this look and wore a white collared nude bomber to last month’s Brit Awards.
Trend 03 – Botanical
Look to the east for Japanese silhouettes and oriental blossoms that creep up kimonos and other silky loungewear. Haider Ackerman showcased typically beautiful draped and layered silk pieces, whilst Miuccia Prada teamed kimono sleeves with Geisha platforms.
Trend 04 – Flats and low heels
Sexy 90’s pointy heels are back and have been modernised. Dainty kitten, low block and low wedge heels are the way forward and are readily available throughout the high street. As well as pointy heels, pointy toes are all the rage. Ballet pumps, closed toe sandals and boots, to name but a few styles. (If only I’d kept my originals, wouldn’t have to go out and buy new!)
Trend 06 – Leather
Leather looks set to be one of SS13’s hottest trends. Designers featured a fair amount of it on the catwalk, from colourful structured tops and skirts to sleek colour blocked trousers. Let’s not forget about the trusty leather jacket which doesn’t seem to tire in the fashion world – a definite wardrobe staple.
Trend 07 – Pastels
Soft hues like pastel pinks, sorbet, milky blues and mint are BIG for this season. Erdem, Calvin Klein and Mulberry set the runway talking with lemon being their most noticeable shade, deeming it to be THE colour of Spring Summer 2013.
Trend 08 – Statement Graphic Prints
If there’s one way to get yourself noticed this spring, it’s this look. Gorgeous statement graphic prints are everywhere; modern paisley, colourful patterns and stunning abstract designs are the ones to look out for. Express your personality with the power of a print!
Trend 09 – Stripes
A traditional classic, the faithful stripe will take you stylishly into Spring Summer 2013. Marc Jacobs showcased both vertical and horizontal stripes on the catwalk, with Tommy Hilfiger following suit with vertical stripes in brighter hues.
Trend 10 – The Sixties
Love it or hate it, this trend keeps coming back for more. Swirling stripes, beehive do’s, swinging coats, this seasons’ revamps include graphic prints and Crayola-bright tones, equalling an upbeat retro love affair. The sixties shift dress is always a winner in my book.
