Have you ever had one of those days where everything goes right? In clothes shops that is. You go into a shop, not looking for anything in particular, but find something you adore, totally fits and suits you, and to top it all its half price?! You then continue the day like this – as if items had been pre-selected and placed in prominent positions on the shop floor. JUST FOR YOU! Yesterday was all about that for me.
Not only did I find a very grown up pair of Givenchy’s with 50% off, I nabbed half price J Brand jeans, an oh so elegant Vanessa Bruno Athe silk top and the piece de resistance was a second-hand pair of Jimmy Choo sandals. I had died and gone to sale shopping heaven! The best part was I hadn’t planned on doing any shopping! I’d only intended to visit the new Kensington Whole Foods Store, which, if you like eating healthily, is A-MA-ZING. Ironically I didn’t buy anything there because it was my last port of call and my arms were too full with shopping bags! I think because the shopping was wholly unexpected, it made my little treasures even more treasurable.
I was happily minding my own business in Kensington Church Street when a beautiful pair of shoes in a window display caught my eye. Well, not just one pair, but most of them actually. I uttered those famous words us girls all must have at some point in our lives, ”I’ll just have a look”. I ventured in and it was game over. My eyes quickly sought out the ‘only one pair left shelf’, (that on its own works me into a bit of a frenzy!) and went immediately to a very sophisticated pair of Metal Mesh Givenchy Pumps. My kind of shoe, my size and half price. According to the sales assistant, this was a first as they normally only discount by 30% – she so saw me coming! Of course that helped me decide that they would be coming home with me.
Thoroughly chuffed with my new designer heels, I wandered up to a charity shop and found a couple of great necklaces perfect for layering – which I’m really loving at the moment. Read more about necklace layering here. I paid for them and was about to leave when on the counter right infront of me was a pair of Jimmy Choo sandals. I’m still not sure how I didn’t notice them when I was paying for my jewellery -when you see them you’ll wonder why as well! Again, they were my size and despite the towering 4.5 inch heel, had my name written all over them. I was a bit dubious as even though they wouldn’t break the bank, they’re higher than anything I’ve ever worn and I wasn’t sure if I could even stand in them, let alone walk. Five minutes of admiring them in the mirror later, I decided I would be a fool to leave without buying them and the pain would definitely be worth it for these beauties.
Last stop was Trilogy, a clothes store on the same street. I’ve been looking for a pair of wet look skinny jeans for nights out (no, honestly, I have!), and suddenly there they were. J Brand 901′s coated teal skinnys on the first rack I went to and half price if you please. They fitted like a trusty old pair of leather gloves. The Vanessa Bruno Athe silk top I also selected looked fabulous with them. I whipped the Jimmy’s out of their bag and onto my feet, and casually sauntered out of changing room. The sales assistant beamed at me and our eye contact silently agreed this was one hell of an outfit.
I liked being Carrie Bradshaw yesterday. I wonder if next time it will lead me to this generation’s Big?
